Giving back to the community is crucial for both individuals and their organizations. Volunteering is an excellent way to build team morale while also strengthening a company’s relationship with the overall community.  Corporate social responsibility is becoming an essential for employees in the workplace, which comes as no surprise – workers expect their organizations to care about and contribute to causes that improve the world we live in. In fact, according to the Society for Human Resource Management, 47% of U.S.  companies are including volunteering programs as a company perk – that’s a 7% increase since 2014.

Teak recently spent a perfectly hot, sunny day at the Esplanade on the Charles River where we focused on repainting the park benches. We enjoyed the beautiful view, the time with our co-workers, and left with some hard-earned green paint stains on our clothes that we took home with pride.

Although we interact with our colleagues every day, we often forget what it’s like to see them outside of a work setting. Volunteering with your company gives you a chance to see your colleagues in a new light – to break down any barriers that may exist between employees and foster more positive and supportive working environment. And what better way to achieve this than supporting nonprofits within your community?

Check out the photos below of the Teak team enjoying a day of hard work, laughter, and giving back to the community. Our day was possible thanks to the wonderful Esplanade Association. We have deep gratitude for the work they do to maintain, revitalize, enhance, and build community at the Charles River Esplanade.
