Senior Account Executive

Based on an approved plan, Senior Account Executives (SAE) drive the day-to-day PR activities – building relationships and anticipating problems and opportunities for clients. They come to the table with innovative and creative ideas that capture the attention of press while working within a team and independently across projects.

They are stewards of news and culture with a proven track record securing press coverage, managing influencer programs and thrive in a fast-pace team environment. They are driven, detail-oriented, curious, and hungry to do great work, collaborating with other agency and client partners as needed. SAEs are experienced in social media and other forms of digital content.

This is a full-time position based in Boston and reports to the Assistant Director, Director, AVP, VP or SVP.

Responsibilities:

  • Is the day-to-day client manager – often supporting multiple clients
  • Attends, participates and drives client status meetings in partnership with other agency leaders
  • Owns the client status document; is responsible for the post-meeting action-item document
  • Is a student of news and culture – knows what makes a good story
  • Shares relevant client and industry news weekly
  • Performs media relations activities including:
    • Researches/follows relevant reporters, updates the media contact database and develops media lists
    • Drafts press releases and produces other short & long form PR content
    • Researches trends and applies them to client storytelling
    • Drafts media pitches and conducts national, regional and local media outreach
  • Leads influencer programming and supports social media programming with the social media manager
  • Plans & manages event programming
  • Knows how to use all necessary tools & PR platforms needed to execute on behalf of clients
  • Actively brainstorms ideas for client presentations and plans
  • When called upon, participates in and helps with new business presentations
  • Contributes to and helps create a creative & inclusive work environment

Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in public relations, journalism, communications or applicable experience in a related field
  • 3-4 years of experience in an agency or client-side role
  • Strong writer
  • Strong media and influencer relations professional
  • Experience with PR measurement practices & platforms
  • Familiarity with key tools that are used in the PR industry
  • Is detail oriented and has strong time management skills
  • Has a proven track record gaining client trust by demonstrating strategic thinking and delivering excellent results
  • Maintains composure in challenging (and stressful) situations
  • Understands how to leverage social media platforms to meet client objectives

 

Junior Account Executive

 

Responsibilities:

  • Research
  • List building
  • Office assistance; ordering supplies for office
  • Calendar listing writing, pitching, posting
  • Take notes during meetings
  • Researching awards / speaking opps for company and clients
  • Pitches stories / events for clients
  • Post online calendar listings as needed for clients
  • Provide assistance and support for in-office and client events as needed
  • Assists with monthly hours calculation
  • Manage client hours during Clicktime
  • Manage personal hours daily
  • Monitor and track media coverage for clients
  • Event shadowing
  • Research Ed Cals
  • Update and lead Trello
  • Blog writing, evergreen
  • Write press releases, media alerts, basic pitch letters, news stories, articles, case studies and product pieces for several clients simultaneously
  • Create media lists for each story pitch including local, regional, and national lists
  • Pitch press releases and feature ideas by phone and email to local, regional, and trade journalists, across print, broadcast and online, to interest them in covering client stories
  • Respond to phone calls and emails from journalists
  • Arrange interviews for clients’ spokespeople – in person or remotely – and facilitate these meetings where appropriate
  • Help prep spokespeople as needed through detailed email confirmations with assistance from account leads
  • Monitor media coverage and report results to the wider team and clients on the client Activity Reports, including hyperlinks for media hits as well as copies of hits in client Hits folder
  • Attend client events and industry conferences
  • Assist with new business research such as media lists, marketing contact lists, etc.
  • Support social media programming with the social media manager
  • Interview and engage with participants served by clients with respect, compassion and empathy
  • Manage the office supplies and order accordingly
  • Assist with monthly hours calculations
