Teak Media + Communication provided a free media training session for local nonprofit organizations at the NonProfit Center in Boston on Wednesday, June 12. Media training equips individuals with the skills to effectively communicate their message, handle interviews confidently, and maintain a positive public image, even when facing challenging situations. Attendees included CEOs, executive directors, and leaders from The Nature Conservancy, Give Black Alliance, Roxbury Community College, and Old North Church & Historic Site.
The evening began at 5:30 pm with a cocktail hour and opportunity to network, accompanied by refreshments and appetizers.
Teak Media Founder and President, Jackie Russell, led the attendees in an interactive session that included a primer on how newsrooms have changed, what journalists look for, and how organizations can shape their message in a concise and understandable way. The presentation also included the difference between owned, paid, and earned media, potential pitfalls, and how to avoid them. (You can also learn more about this topic HERE.)
Participants workshopped their messages with other like-minded individuals. They learned ways to generate intrigue and make their missions relevant to the listener, while also leaving them with hope and inspiration about how problems in our world can be solved.
The Teak team loved catching up with familiar faces and meeting other changemakers in the city. We look forward to seeing you at our next event! Thank you to the NonProfit Center for hosting us!
