2025 showed both progress and setbacks in Boston’s wage gap story. Women now earn 88 cents for every dollar a man earns—a 43% decrease from the 21-cent gap in 2023. Despite this improvement, the racial wage gap widened: people of color earn 31 cents less than white workers, up from 27 cents last year.

The Boston Women’s Workforce Council’s latest report shows women are gaining ground in executive roles, but people of color remain underrepresented in higher-paying positions.
